Hello Folks,
This past week a number of the folks from this congregation met for Family Fun Day.  We went to the Harrell's farm where we had inflatables for kids, corn hole pitching for anyone, a Rook Tournament, riding of 4-wheelers, shooting contests, eating and all around fun.  This was a great time for all who were there and I think that it was well worth it.  When the Church family meets for a time of celebration it is something that is filled with great joy, laughter, and just a sense of fellowship.  A number of folks worked hard to make this come about and I am thankful for them as well.  The church being a family, laughing and enjoying one another is something that is an absolute necessity for those who want to be a part of the local congregation.  It is certainly something you do not regret at all.
On the other hand this past Sunday we had someone come to the church before services in a quest for money.  This man has been here before and we have helped him some.  As he told me that he was hungry and I offered to take him to get him a dinner only to have him say he would just go back home I find myself wanting to harden my heart.  That is a great fear I have when I see individuals who I think are just wanting a handout and have no intention of changing anything that they do.  I smelled the cigarette smoke on him and listened as he talked about his need only to have him turn it down because I would not give him cash it is easy to think of everyone like that.  I pray that I keep my heart soft so that when there is a real need I will be able to help.
Here are two different sides!  One is of celebration and family while the other is of selfishness and darkness.   But is that not the biblical outlook?  There is light on one side and darkness on the other.  I pray that I would be a man who brings people to light!  I also pray that everyone of us would not only bring people to light but that we would walk in the light.

May He bless Yyu all,

HGRudd
